Vol. 326 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Blanchardstown (Dublin) Hospital.

9.

asked the Minister for Health when additional medical facilities will be provided in the James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown, Dublin to cater for the rapidly increasing population in the Blanchardstown and surrounding areas.

I expect that final agreement on the specialties and bed numbers to be provided in James Connolly Memorial Hospital, in the future, will be reached shortly. When the bed complement has been finalised, the next step will be to set up a project team, comprising representatives of the hospital board and officers of my Department, to plan the development of the hospital in detail. I would anticipate that, having regard to the nature of the project it would take at least three years to complete planning.
