Vol. 326 No. 7

Written Answers. - Westport School Closure.

142.

asked the Minister for Education whether his permission was sought for the closure of Cregganbane national school, Carrowniskey, Westport, County Mayo; the date on which permission was sought and, if granted, the date; and whether he will reconsider the decision to close the school in view of the wishes of many parents in the area that it remain open as a one-teacher school.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply on 5 November 1980 to a similar question in regard to this school. Proposals on the basis of which amalgamation might take place were conveyed by official letter of 22 September 1980 to the boards of management of Killeen central school and Cregganbane school. I have nothing further to add to my previous reply in this matter.
