Vol. 326 No. 9

Written Answers. - Home Improvement Grants.

186.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment if home improvement grants of £760 have been allocated to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan; if he is aware that requests have been made for the inspection and payment of these grants; the reason for the delay to date; and if he will pay the grants allocated on the basis that a substantial amount of work has been done as it may not be possible to complete the work as the house is occupied by elderly ladies.

Grants totalling £760 have been allocated to the person named. While there is no record in my Department of any request from the applicant for an inspection of the works with a view to payment of the grant, I regret that due to the huge volume of applications and correspondence being processed, a request from the Deputy for payment of an instalment of the reconstruction grant was overlooked. However, an early inspection has been arranged with a view to payment of an instalment, if in order. Before the full grants can be paid, all work specified by my Department must be carried out. The Deputy will be kept informed of developments.

187.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in relation to applications for home improvement and water supply grants on behalf of persons (details supplied) in County Roscommon; and if a decision has been made to date in relation to their applications.

Reconstruction and water and sewerage grants were paid to the persons named in November 1979.
