Vol. 326 No. 11

Written Answers. - Land Registry Operations.

27.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will expedite an application for first registration of property (details supplied) in the Land Registry.

Applications for first registration require detailed examination of title and certain legal issues have to be finalised before registration can be effected.

28.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay by the Land Registry office in dealing with land transfers at present.

Registration of land transfers inevitably takes some time and there is no unusual delay in the Land Registry at present.

If the Deputy has any specific cases in mind, the Land Registry would be happy to deal with any queries he may have.

29.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay by the Land Registry in dealing with property (details supplied) in County Galway.

The delay in this case was because an original land certificate which had been issued to the solicitors for the registered owner in 1951 could not be produced to the Land Registry. The necessary legal formalities in connection with the issue of a duplicate land certificate had to be completed before examination of the application for registration could proceed. These formalities were completed in November 1980 and the application for registration was completed on 11 February 1981. The time taken for completion of the registration was normal for this type of dealing.
