Vol. 326 No. 11

Written Answers. - Wexford School Extension.

302.

asked the Minister for Education if he will sanction the plans for the extension of St. Iberius National School, Davitt Road South, Wexford, in view of the fact that the school is now overcrowded and completely unsuitable for the pupils attending there; and if he will ensure that the building of the extension will be commenced as soon as possible.

303.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the fact that the children attending St. Iberius National School, Davitt Road South, Wexford, are from a small and widespread community, he will not insist on requesting the local community to provide one-third of the cost of providing the extension to the school.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 302 and 303 together.

Sketch plans for the proposed extension to St. Iberius national school, Davitt Road South, Wexford, have been approved.

The matter of the local contribution will be discussed with the school authorities and when agreement has been reached, the preparation of working-drawings may proceed. In connection with a decision on the amount to be contributed from local sources towards the building costs, regard will be had to all relevant considerations.
