Vol. 326 No. 11

Written Answers. - Longford Vocational School Investigation.

301.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that an investigation was carried out by a person (details supplied) into the operation of Longford Vocational school about April 1977; the cost of the investigation; the result; if any action was taken as a result of the investigation and, if not, why, and if he is prepared to make the report of the investigation available.

An officer of my Department carried out inquiries in relation to certain aspects of the administration of Longford vocational school in the period 1977-8 and furnished a report. The assignment constituted part of his official duties and the question did not arise of making an estimate of cost in relation to it. The report furnished must be regarded as confidential and I am not in a position to furnish information concerning its contents. I am satisfied that a degree of harmony has been established in the school.
