Vol. 327 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ringaskiddy (Cork) Industrial Estate.

271.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism if the IDA have any plans for specific industries at the Ringaskiddy industrial estate, County Cork.

During 1980 the Industrial Development Authority intensified their efforts to promote Ringaskiddy for industries requiring port facilities and/or a substantial volume of water and which would provide a significant level of employment.

A US engineering company, Moog Inc., which plans to employ 50 people has recently been approved for grant assistance by the IDA. This project will be located in the 12,000 sq. ft. factory at Ringaskiddy. Negotiations are at an advanced stage between the IDA and an Australian company, Fielder Gillespie, for a joint venture with Ceimicí Teoranta for a wheat protein and glucose manufacturing plant at Ringaskiddy. The first stage of the project will entail investment of £14 million and will have a job potential of 120.

The IDA are also engaged in negotiations with a number of other companies which have expressed an interest in Ringaskiddy as a location for an industry.
