Vol. 327 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Cork Sewerage Scheme.

336.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position in regard to sanction for the sewerage scheme at Rosscarbery, County Cork; and whether he will now sanction the funds for this scheme.

Contract documents for the Rosscarbery sewerage scheme are under consideration in my Department. This scheme must be considered in the context of the need to conserve available capital for schemes of the highest priority and the number of such schemes at present in progress or about to commence including the Clonakilty and Bantry water supply schemes and the Courtmacsherry and Bantry sewerage schemes in the west Cork area. I am not in a position to say when a decision thereon will issue to the local authority. The question of sanctioning finance does not arise until a scheme has been fully approved.
