As the papers in this case are with the Department's inspector for certification of payment of a grant, if in order, I am not in a position to comment on what delay, if any, occurred. The inspector has been asked to discharge the case as quickly as possible.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a solid fuel grant from the person named, but there is such an application from a person with a different Christian name of the same address. Payment will be made in this case when an inspection — to be carried out shortly — establishes that the works qualify and have been satisfactorily completed. Any delay has been due to the large number of applications on hands.
