A number of proposals have been received in my Department in relation to replacement vessels for those at present being used on the Galway-Aran ferry service. One of the proposals is for a fast passenger vessel described as a "Westamaran 86". There has been preliminary consultation between my Department and CIE in regard to this proposal but a decision has not yet been taken in the matter.
