asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a request from Drogheda Corporation to sanction the building of 116 local authority houses (stage 3) at Moneymore, Drogheda, County Louth; if so, if the scheme has been sanctioned; and if the necessary finance has been made available.

Plans submitted to my Department by the National Building Agency on behalf of Drogheda Corporation for this scheme were the subject of recent discussions between officials of the agency, my Department and Drogheda Corporation. Arising from these discussions it was agreed that the agency would proceed with plans for a scheme of about 100 houses and leave the balance for consideration in conjunction with the preparation of an action plan by the corporation for the further lands owned by them at the North East of the Moneymore site.

Pending the submission of these plans, the question of the provision of finance for the scheme does not arise.
