Mr. Horgan

asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of (a) current and (b) capital expenditure by each health board since they were established, including estimates for recent years for which there are no final figures.

Notes

(1) The figures for non-capital expenditure given in the table exclude:

—payments made directly by the Department on behalf of health boards, to voluntary and joint board hospitals and homes for the mentally handicapped in the years 1974 to 1980 inclusive.

—grants from the Hospitals Trust Fund in respect of revenue deficits of voluntary hospitals in the years 1971/72 to 1973, inclusive. (This arrangeme nt ceased after 1973 when the system of direct funding by the Department of Health was introduced.)

(2) The figures given for capital expenditure by the Southern Health Board in the years 1975 to 1980 inclusive include a total of £19.014 mill ion in respect of the Cork Regional Hospital.

(3) The non-capital figures given for 1980 are estimated.
