I have received the representations referred to. Following inquiries made by me in the matter I am satisfied that any drainage work carried out in connection with afforestation activities had little or no adverse effects on flooding in the River Flesk catchment area. My information is that the general topography of this district predisposes it to flooding, especially at times of abnormally heavy rainfall such as occurred at the beginning of November last when the serious damage complained of took place.
