andMr. O'Donnell asked the Minister for the Environment if building societies have yet been paid the subsidy on interest rates which was promised by the Government in 1980.

To date £1,781,754 out of as estimated total of £7 million has been paid to building societies in respect of the subsidy on society investment rates payable in respect of the period 1 June to 30 September 1980. A sum of £5.215 million has been included in the Department's Vote for 1981 to meet outstanding claims and claim forms were recently issued to each registered building society.
