asked the Taoiseach the actual percentage change in each item included in the consumer price index from mid-May 1977 to the latest date for which figures are available.

asked the Taoiseach the percentage change in each item included in the consumer price index from mid-May 1977 to mid-February 1981; and the actual price change in each food item on the consumer price index between those dates.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 374 and 376 together.

The percentage price changes for all items and the actual price changes for food items distinguished in the consumer price index are given in the following tables. The actual price changes are available only for those food items where identical varieties and quantities are priced in all areas and meaningful national average prices can be calculated.
