Vol. 328 No. 3

Written Answers. - Home Improvement Grant.

471.

asked the Minister for the Environment the estimated number of dwellings in the country over thirty years old which are under £30 valuation; and the estimated cost of providing a home improvement grant of a maximum of £1,000 for 20 per cent of those houses.

A breakdown of the housing stock on a valuation basis is not available. It is, however, estimated that about 450,000 houses, that is 50 per cent of the stock, are over thirty years old and that it would cost up to £90 million to provide improvement grants of £1,000 for 20 per cent of such houses.
