Returns furnished by licensing authorities to my Department in respect of registration fees cover all private cars, motor cycles and small public service vehicles (taxis and hackneys) not exceeding 16 h.p. The yield from such fees for the years 1978-1980 was as follows:- 1978, £3,360,883; 1979, £3,490,738; 1980, £6,372,606.
The expected yield for 1981 is estimated at £13,500,000.
