Vol. 328 No. 12

Written Answers. - Kerry Television Reception.

295.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the proposals he has to improve television reception in the Bonane area, near Kenmare, County Kerry, and also in the Cahirciveen area, where reception is very poor.

RTE are aware that reception in the Bonane area is less than satisfactory. They say that major improvements to the aerial at the Mullaghanish transmitter later this year should result in improved reception for this area.

Regarding the Cahirciveen area, RTE are not aware of any problems in relation to reception of RTE 1. Following the introduction of a new transposer for RTE 1 and RTE 2 in the Dingle area, RTE plan to provide an RTE 2 transposer at Cahirviveen. They are not in a position yet to say when this transposer will be operational.
