Vol. 329 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bundoran Hotel Fire Inquiry.

10.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to proceed with the holding of the public inquiry into the fire at the Central Hotel, Bundoran, County Donegal on 8 August 1980; if so, its terms of reference; and when he expects the first sitting to take place.

I have this matter presently under consideration. A decision will be announced in due course.

It is unfortunate that the Minister himself did not answer this question. The Bundoran fire inquiry was a matter of considerable concern to the Minister's party when on this side of the House.

Not to the Deputy's party.

The previous Government laid down the terms of reference of this inquiry and the matter was on the Order Paper. Is the Minister prepared to honour the commitment to hold this inquiry?

As I indicated, I am considering this matter and will make known my decision in due course.
