Vol. 329 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mallow (Cork) Housing Needs.

12.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve at an early date the capital allocation in respect of the erection of small-type dwellings to meet the needs of the elderly in the Mallow UDC area of County Cork.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the Government have, on my recommendation and in view of the total inadequacy of the capital already provided, agreed to an additional capital allocation of £30 million for the local authority housing programme. In view of this it should be possible for the Mallow scheme as referred to by the Deputy to commence without any further delay.

I thank the Minister.

Good bargaining.

Of course, this is the result of things that will be happening in this House today.
