asked the Minister for Education when a grant will be sanctioned for Barnaderg national school, Tuam, County Galway for the provision of a ball court.

A grant was sanctioned on 17 September last towards the cost of providing a ball court at Barnaderg national school, Tuam, County Galway. It was learned from the Board of Works that a second inspection had been found necessary and this contributed to the delay in sanctioning the grant.

asked the Minister for Education if a substantial grant can be made available towards the development of the site at the new national school in Kilcar, County Donegal so that playing facilities can be provided for the children.

The Commissioners of Public Works have been in communication with the architect who was retained by the Rev. Chairman to plan and supervise the building of Kilcar national school on the matter of having the site cleared.

The question of a grant will be considered when the commissioners report and recommendations become available. This issue first arose when the district inspector reported that, despite the exemplary manner of the completion of the school, an adjacent site was left undeveloped and that this detracted from the new building. The Rev. Chairman made a formal application to the Department on this matter on 8 April 1981, some consultation with the Commissioners of Public Works having taken place prior to that date. They have now been asked to expedite their report and an early decision can be expected once that report becomes available.

A grant was sanctioned in May 1980 towards the cost of providing a basketball court.
