On 2 May 1980, Mayo County Council applied for sanction to borrow from the Local Loans Fund to enable them to make their contribution to the cost of improvement works at Killala Pier. The Council was informed that no moneys from the fund were available from which such a loan could be sanctioned and that any borrowing for this purpose would have to be from another source. A revised application for sanction would be necessary. The council have not as yet submitted such application.
