asked the Minister for Agriculture the cost basis on which dry reclamation under the western farm package is to be applied; and whether there are acreage limits or ceilings on grants per acre.

A grant of 70 per cent is available under the programme for western development for all forms of land improvement subject to the following cost limits: (a) £515 per hectare for commonage, mountain and hill pasture; (b) £740 per hectare for intensive lowland reclamation; (c) £340 per hectare for limited lowland reclamation.

A limit of 40 hectares per applicant is applied to lowland reclamation.
