Vol. 330 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

473.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy when a person (details supplied) in County Galway will receive a grant towards the cost of the installation of electricity under EEC Scheme 1820/80.

I have been informed by the ESB that the individual referred to by the Deputy applied for supply on the 19 October 1981 and his application is being investigated and costed by the board's Athlone district office. It will be passed for consideration to the Department of Industry and Energy by the end of November. When it is received in the Department, it will be processed as quickly as possible.

All applicants are informed by the ESB of the outcome of their applications. If successful they are put on the ESB's work programme for their area. It is not possible to say exactly when connection will be made in a particular case as this is a matter of day to day administration of the board, and will depend on such factors as the board's work load in the area concerned.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy when a grant which is owed for 12 months for the insulation of an attic will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

The application in this case was received in the Department on 9 January 1981. The work, however, was contracted for before the 20 October 1980, the date the scheme came into operation. It is a condition of the scheme that applications cannot be entertained for work contracted before 20 October 1980. In these circumstances, this request was rejected and the applicant was notified on 17 February 1981. A further letter was received from this person on 19 October 1981 to the effect that he had not had any response to the earlier application. A further letter informing him again of the decision to refuse the application was issued to him on 29 October, 1981.
