The number of disabled persons recruited to the public sector (excluding local authorities) since 1 July last is 86 and a number of others are at present being considered for appointment. In addition arrangements are in hand for the holding of further special competitions for the appointment of disabled persons to the civil service. Figures of appointments to local authorities are not readily available to me but if the Deputy would wish to put down a further question in two weeks' time I would hope to be in a position to furnish the information.
