Vol. 331 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Cork Special Allowance Payment.

559.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will have an application for a special allowance reconsidered and sanctioned for a person (details supplied) in County Cork as he is 81 years and is in receipt of a maximum non-contributory old age pension now.

The case referred to in the Deputy's question was recently investigated. As the applicant's means exceeded the appropriate annual sum — in this case £857 — he was not eligible for the award of a special allowance under the Army Pensions Acts. I am, however, arranging to have the case reinvestigated and I will notify the Deputy of the outcome.
