Vol. 331 No. 5

Written Answers. - Land Acquisition.

340.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the present position in relation to the land bank; and the land the Land Commission intend to take over in east Limerick.

Presumably the information requested in the first part of the question is the total area of land in the possession of the Land Commission in the entire country. At present this amounts to some 28,000 hectares.

As to the second part of the question, the Land Commission's records are not compiled on the basis of constituency boundaries. At the moment, they have in their possession some 300 hectares in County Limerick as a whole, while proceedings are in progress for the acquisition of a further 500 hectares.
