asked the Minister for Health if the children affected by the directive on school entry age will be entitled to health screening and medical treatment while attending pre-school playgroups at the ages of four and five years.

Children under six years of age are entitled to a free health examination service provided at health board clinics and to free out-patient specialist services for defects discovered on examination.

Children covered by the directive will continue to be eligible for these services.
