Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Waterford Regional Technical College.

29.

(Wexford) asked the Minister for Education when the proposed extension to Waterford regional technical college will commence because of the appalling conditions which have to be endured by the students who have to attend classes at Waterford military barracks which is approximately two miles away.

No proposals in regard to the extension of the regional technical college at Waterford have been received in my Department and allegations that the accommodation rented by the college at Waterford military barracks is totally unsuitable have been rejected by the college authorities. The Higher Education Authority is at present conducting a study in regard to higher education needs in the country outside the Dublin area, on which it has already reported. As soon as I have received and considered the authority's report, I shall be in a position to determine what further third level educational facilities are required outside the Dublin area.

Question No. 30 postponed.
