Vol. 333 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Domestic Water Supply.

299.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that for some time past many residents in the Finglas/Ballymun area have been enduring a highly inadequate domestic water supply; and when this intolerable situation will be rectified.

The maintenance and operation of existing public water supplies in Dublin city is a matter for Dublin Corporation. I understand from the corporation that parts of the Finglas-Ballymun area are so elevated in relation to the Ballycoolen Reservoir which supply them that it is difficult to keep water pressures at reasonable levels. Measures to overcome the problem are under consideration and a proposal is expected to be placed before the city council later this year.
