Vol. 333 No. 9

Written Answers. - Income Tax Allowance.

384.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will investigate the anxieties of a person (details supplied) in Dublin who alleges that she is not being granted any income tax allowance; and if he will initiate inquiries with her to resolve these difficulties.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the tax position of this person had been open for years 1976-77 onwards as the inspector of taxes was unable to obtain replies to inquiries which were made for the purpose of determining final figures of liability for those years. This information was supplied recently and the inspector has now computed the liabilities arising for the years 1976-77 to 1980-81, inclusive. As a result, the tax-free allowances applicable for 1982-83 have been granted and an amended certificate for that year has now issued.

The taxpayer has been requested by the inspector to furnish particulars relating to the year 1981-82 so that the tax position for that year can be ascertained.
