Vol. 334 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin Car Thefts.

921.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will comment on the allegations contained in a letter from a person (details supplied) in Dublin with specific reference to the apparent non-reaction of the Garda authorities involved to certain incidents, and the steps that will be taken to bring about improvements in this locality.

The letter in question is concerned in the main with the incidence of car thefts in the area in which the writer resides and complaints by the writer about the response of the Garda when the thefts are reported to them. I have asked the Garda authorities to inquire into the matters raised in the letter and to let me have a report as soon as they can. However, it is likely to take them some time to carry out the inquiries and I will communicate the outcome to the Deputy in due course.
