Vol. 334 No. 4

Written Answers. - Company Operatives Employment Protection.

884.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the action he proposes to take to protect the employment of the 20 operatives formerly engaged by two companies (details supplied) in Dublin and County Clare in view of the judgment given by Mr. Justice Hamilton in the High Court on 27 April 1982.

As the Deputy is aware, production by the company named has had to be suspended, at least temporarily, because of the High Court judgement mentioned. Pending the availability and study of the official text of that decision, its implications for further manufacture by the company cannot precisely be determined. Any decisions in regard to the future activities of the company are ones for its promoters, with whom Shannon Free Airport Development Company Limited will continue to maintain close contact.
