Vol. 334 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sligo Harbour Dredging.

706.

asked the Minister for Transport if, in view of the urgent need to dredge Sligo Harbour and the fact that a Polish coal boat which was due in Sligo on 14 May had to be diverted to another port, he will take the necessary action immediately so that Sligo Harbour Commission can start work on the dredging programme.

707.

asked the Minister for Transport the capital allocation provided in the Public Capital Programme 1982 for dredging and other works in Sligo Harbour.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Question Nos. 706 and 707 together.

An allocation of £250,000, by way of State grant, has been included in the 1982 Public Capital Programme for the purpose of dredging the channel and berths at Sligo Harbour. Payment of the grant is subject to a suitable scheme being submitted by Sligo Harbour Commissioners and approved by my Department. I am awaiting details of the commissioners' proposals for this dredging.
