Vol. 334 No. 9

Written Answers. - Clare Water Schemes.

120.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide funds for the construction of a proper head to service Clarecastle water scheme, County Clare, since Clare County Council have furnished all the necessary preliminary documents and as this small project will satisfy an urgent social and commercial need.

The approval of the contract documents for this scheme must be considered in the context of the financing of the number of water and sewerage schemes currently in progress and the number of such schemes getting to construction at present including the following schemes in County Clare: Ennistymon-Lahinch-Liscannor water supply; Kildysart-Labasheeda water supply; Newmarket-on-Fergus sewerage.

I regret that I cannot at present say when a decision will be conveyed to the local authority on the contract documents for this scheme which are under consideration in my Department.

122.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an official of his Department will call to members of the Craganowen Extension Group, Daingean, Cullen, County Clare, who have been waiting for a response since early 1980.

My Department's local engineering inspector has called to this group water scheme and advised the organiser to obtain quotations for the work and to complete the necessary grant application forms.
