asked the Minister for Finance when the amended tax free allowance granting a dependent relative allowance for his two sisters for 1981-1982 and 1982-1983 will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Meath which the Chairman of the Revenue Commissioners promised by letter; and when the refund of tax consequent on the amendment of the tax free allowance certificate will be issued.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer has now submitted the documentation which was required to enable his 1981-82 tax liability to be reviewed. The inspector of taxes has made the review resulting in an over-payment of £136.47, a cheque for which was issued to the taxpayer on 28 May 1982.
An amended certificate of tax-free allowances for 1982-83 was issued to the taxpayer on 12 May 1982, and a copy was sent to his employer. It is understood that the certificate will be put into operation by the employer on 4 June 1982, and any tax which has been over-deducted from the taxpayer's earnings since 6 April 1982, will be refunded to him by his employer on that date.
