Vol. 336 No. 3

Written Answers. - Primary School Rules.

837.

asked the Minister for Education if it is intended to amend the primary school rules to prohibit teachers from smoking during class.

There is no proposal under consideration by me at the present time to make an amendment to the rules and regulations for national schools as adverted to in the question from the Deputy. I am satisfied that teachers and school management authorities are alive to their responsibilities in relation to setting good example to school pupils in the matter of dissemination of information on the dangers to health from cigarette smoking.
