asked the Minister for Justice the number of criminal offences reported in each of the years 1977 to 1981, inclusive for the Garda sub-districts of Coolock and Raheny Garda stations, Dublin; and the number of convictions in each of these years from the commission of offences in those areas.

Statistics of indictable offences reported and detected, together with the number of convictions, for the Coolock and Raheny sub-districts in respect of the years 1977 to 1981, inclusive, are as follows:

Notes:

1. The 1981 figures are provisional.

2. "No. detected" refers to offences in respect of which charges are preferred and in addition offences in respect of which the perpetrators are known but where charges are not preferred because, for example, those concerned are dealt with under the juvenile liaison scheme or are mentally incapacitated or have died.

3. "No. of convictions" does not include cases where the indictable offence was dealt with summarily and where the charge was proved and an order made without conviction. Statistics of such cases for the areas in question are not available but the numbers of such cases is quite small.
