Vol. 336 No. 5

Written Answers. - Mail Deliveries.

633.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason it takes letters which are posted in Cavan town several days to reach Dublin e.g. a letter posted in Cavan town on 27 May 1982 and date stamped accordingly was not delivered to Leinster House until Tuesday, 1 June 1982; and if he will take steps to have this position remedied.

Letters posted in Cavan town should secure delivery at Leinster House on the next working day. Nothing has been found to account for the delay caused to the letter referred to by the Deputy, which was posted in Cavan town on Thursday, 27 May 1982. If, however, the Deputy is aware of other instances of delay, my Department would be glad to investigate them if he will provide particulars and, if possible, the covers of the items in question.
