asked the Minister for Justice whether the period spent under sentence of death and the poor prison facilities available for women prisoners is taken into account when reviewing long-term sentences.

Any factors considered relevant, including special tension and the physical environment in the prison, are taken into account in the course of the detailed appraisal which such cases receive.
