Vol. 336 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

480.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange for the immediate payment of sheep and cattle headage grants which are due to a person (details supplied) in Kylemore, County Galway.

The herds of the person named and of his brother were deemed in 1977 to have been amalgamated for headage schemes purposes. The brother of the person named applied for sheep headage in 1981 and was paid the maximum sheep headage grant of £1,750 in respect of 200 ewes or 30 livestock units on 30 March 1982. When the person named applied for cattle headage in 1981 he could not be paid any more as the maximum number of livestock units on which an applicant could be paid under both cattle and sheep headage schemes in 1981 was 30 and as his brother (with whose herd his own was amalgamated) has been paid already for that number of units.

481.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to reissue a cheque for £520.40 in respect of a 1981 sheep headage grant to a person (details supplied) in Headford, County Galway.

A payable order, which amounted to £285, issued on 8 March 1982 to the person named in respect of his 1981 sheep headage grant and has since been cashed.

A payable order in the sum of £625.60 which issued to the same person on 2 March 1982, in respect of his 1981 cattle headage grant, has not been cashed to date and the person named has indicated he did not receive it. This would seem, therefore, to be the payable order in question. Arrangements are being made to have it cancelled and a replacement payable order issued.
