Vol. 336 No. 6

Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

19.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new house grant and mortgage interest subsidy is not being paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

A grant and mortgage subsidy cannot be paid until an inspection establishes that the house has been completed satisfactorily and occupied. While the grant can be paid following certification of the completion and occupation of the house, payment of the first instalment of the subsidy does not arise until six months after the date of execution of the mortgage deed; the remaining five instalments will follow at six-monthly intervals. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

22.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in Waterford is entitled to a house improvement grant; if not, why, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the works had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out.

23.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason his Department have not paid a home improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in Ballyhaunis, County Roscommon.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant was so informed on 21 June 1982.

24.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Castlerea, County Roscommon.

My Department have not been notified that the house has been completed and occupied by the applicant. In view of the information conveyed by the Deputy, an inspection will now be arranged with a view to payment of a grant, if in order.

25.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Elphin, County Roscommon.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended) the latest date for completion of the work and claiming payment of the grant was 30 June 1981. As these requirements were not complied with in this case, a grant cannot now be paid.

26.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant was refused to a person (details supplied) in Portlaoise, County Laois, when the person concerned complied in every way with all of the conditions under the Housing Regulations 1980 (as amended); and if he will outline the investigations carried out on this claim before the decision was issued.

There is no record, in my Department, of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.
