asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his Department will now pay a reconstruction grant to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant was so informed on 25 June 1982.

When the applicant supplies the information requested by my Department an inspection will be arranged.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will explain the delay in paying a reconstruction grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the work was completed and inspected in 1979.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), the latest date for completion of works and receipt, in my Department, of claims for payment was 30 June, 1981. As this statutory requirement was not complied with in this case, a grant cannot be paid.
