Vol. 337 No. 9

Written Answers. - Valentia (Kerry) Island Factory.

694.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the present position in relation to the proposed factory for Valentia Island, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that they have plans at present to construct an advance factory at Valentia Island, County Kerry.

However, the IDA plans to construct 24,000 sq. ft. of factory space at Cahirciveen. This will be divided into units which will be suitable for small industries. In addition, a Norwegian promoted company, Eskimo (Ireland) Ltd., plans to establish a project in Cahirciveen. It is expected that this project will employ 60 people at full production in the manufacture of heavy duty socks.
