asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs his proposals to provide cable television for Carlow town and county.

Cable television system already exist in Carlow town and Leighlinbridge. A proposal to provide a cable system in Bagenalstown is being examined and a request to hold a competition for a licence in respect of Tullow is under consideration.

My Department are at present considering a request for the holding of a competition for a cable television licence for Kilkenny city. There has been no request for a competition elsewhere in the county.
