Vol. 337 No. 11

Written Answers. - Greencastle (Donegal) Pier.

422.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the up-to-date position of the proposed development of Greencastle pier, County Donegal.

A revised estimate of cost in respect of a large-scale development scheme proposed for Greencastle is at present being examined by my Department.

The proposed scheme includes:—1. A pier/breakwater at Queen's Port with 200 ft. of berthage and a depth of water between 7 ft. and 3 ft. at MLWST.

2. The extension of and the reclamation at the existing pier providing— (a) 400 ft. of extra berthage with 12 ft. depth at MLWST, with provision being made for possible future deepening to 15 ft. MLWST; (b) deepening 400 linear ft. of the existing berthage to provide 9 ft. depth of MLWST instead of the existing 7 ft.; (c) approximately 8,250 sq. yds. of additional reclaimed area; (d) improved lighting and ancillary facilities; (e) a fish auction hall.
