Vol. 337 No. 11

Written Answers. - Takeaway Hot Food Centres.

522.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the nuisance being caused to people as a result of the establishment of "take away hot food" centres in housing estates; and if he will review the planning laws to prevent the operation of these centres in residential areas.

The powers available to planning authorities under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Acts, 1963 and 1976, and the Litter Act, 1982 would appear to be adequate to control the location, development and operation of such centres and it is not considered, therefore, that a review of the existing legislation, as suggested by the Deputy, is warranted.
