asked the Taoiseach (a) the amount of butter imported into the EEC from New Zealand in 1981 and the cost per lb.; and (b) the amount of butter sold by the EEC to the Soviet Union in 1981 and the price per lb.

(a) The quantity of butter imported into the EEC from New Zealand in 1981 was 102,024 metric tons valued at 234 million European currency units. The average price was equivalent to IR£0.72 per lb. (b) The quantity of butter exported to the Soviet Union from the EEC in 1981 was 87 metric tons valued at 121 thousand European currency units. The average price was equivalent to IR£0.44 per lb.
