Vol. 338 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Orthodontic Treatment Delay.

411.

asked the Minister for Health the present position relating to a child (details supplied) in County Dublin who has been attending a dental clinic since she was nine years old who has been on a waiting list for orthodontic treatment for three years and who is now over 12 years of age.

The child referred to in the question has been attending the Eastern Health Board's clinic in Clondalkin for routine dental treatment since November 1975. However, it was only during a dental examination in October 1981 that it was considered that the child might require orthodontic treatment. The child was examined again in October 1982 and has an appointment with the health board's principal dental surgeon for 26 November 1982. Following assessment by the principal dental surgeon the possibility of having any necessary treatment carried out will be considered by the health board.
