asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the number employed in the small firms division of the IDA this year and in each of the three preceding years; and the cost of the division in each of those years.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that the number of permanent staff employed in the Small Industries Division in the current year and in each of the last three calendar years is as follows: 1979, 44; 1980, 49; 1981, 51; 1982, 51.

The direct cost to the IDA in salaries, travelling expenses and consultancy costs in each of these years was: 1979, £311,000; 1980, £553,000; 1981, £656,000; 1982, £744,000 (estimate).

124.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will state in relation to County Westmeath the names of the small firms approved for grant aid in 1981; the number of new jobs expected in each such firm as a result; and the grant approved in each case.

125.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will state in relation to County Longford the names of the small firms approved for grant aid in 1981; the number of new jobs expected in each such firm as a result; and the grant approved in each case.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 124 and 125 together.

Details of small industry projects approved and grant payments by the Industrial Development Authority for each county are contained in the IDA's Small Firms Annual Reports. I have arranged to supply the Deputy with a copy of the 1981 report, which was published recently.
